Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 17, 2026 · Last updated: July 16, 2026

Overview

FreeBlock is a social scheduling app that helps college students find overlapping free time with their friends and make plans together. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show you ads.

Information We Collect

Account Information

FreeBlock supports Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, and email/password authentication. Depending on the method you choose, we may receive your email address, display name, authentication provider, and a unique account identifier. Passwords are processed by our authentication provider and are not stored by FreeBlock in readable form.

Profile Information

You may provide your name, school or university, class year, and residential college or similar community information. This information may be visible to accepted friends.

Schedule Data

You may enter course or activity names, days, start and end times, locations, and visibility preferences. You control which schedule details accepted friends can see.

Social and Plan Data

We store friend requests, accepted friend connections, plan proposals, responses, cancellations, dates, times, durations, and whether a plan was confirmed as having happened.

Live Status

When you choose to broadcast that you are free, we store a temporary availability status that expires automatically or can be turned off by you.

Product Analytics and Technical Data

FreeBlock may use limited product analytics to understand whether core features are working, such as schedule setup, friend actions, overlap views, and plan actions. We do not use advertising profiles, session replay, or automatic click capture. Our infrastructure may also process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as request timestamps, device or browser information, and error logs.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to operate, secure, maintain, and improve FreeBlock, including:
  • To create and authenticate your account using the sign-in method you select
  • To show schedule details and free/busy status to accepted friends, subject to your privacy settings
  • To calculate overlapping free time
  • To send, receive, and manage friend requests
  • To display your profile to accepted friends
  • To create, respond to, cancel, and confirm plans
  • To prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information only in the following limited circumstances:
  • With accepted friends: Information is shown only as needed for the feature you are using and according to your privacy settings.
  • Service providers: We use Supabase for database, authentication, and backend infrastructure. Google and Apple process information when you choose their sign-in services. FreeBlock may use PostHog for limited product analytics. These providers process data on our behalf and are expected to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements.
  • Legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or secure the service.

Your Privacy Controls

  • Control whether accepted friends can see course names, locations, and free/busy status
  • Set visibility preferences for schedule items
  • Turn live availability broadcasting on or off
  • Edit or delete schedule items
  • Respond to or cancel plans
  • Delete your account from inside the app

Data Retention

We retain information while your account is active or as reasonably necessary to operate and secure FreeBlock, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When you delete your account, your account and associated data are removed from the active FreeBlock service. Limited residual copies may remain temporarily in secure backups or logs where required for reliability, security, or legal compliance.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app by opening the Privacy tab and selecting Delete my account. Account deletion removes your active profile, schedule data, friend connections and requests, plans, and associated account data. This action cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

FreeBlock is intended for college students and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review and delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so you should use a strong, unique password and protect access to your device and account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as FreeBlock changes. We will update the date shown above and provide additional notice when required.
